Venue: Takahe to Akaroa, Christchurch
It was great to have three competitive teams at the Nationals
this year. First time ever we had a Masters Team and the first
time in four years that we had a junior team. Our previous venture
on this course saw our junior runners as NZ Champions. We had
no expectations this time with our very young team but they did
incredibly well competing against much older runners. The weather
was not the best with rain and wind but everyone toughed it out
and ran hard. A great celebration dinner and allocation of awards
completed a very enjoyable weekend.
Below Jordan Sussex leads out the junior team and Toby Robinson
receiving the Beige Jacket from Haggis for top run by a junior
as voted by his team mates.

A great battle out front by the young guns who left their elders in their wake. Sadly it was an expensive day of ice cream shouts at Ollies for the President who only managed a poor 5m18 and deserved to be dealt to. Our thanks to our invited race starter Mr Mike Potter (former Wesley athlete and NZ 100k rep) who also managed to set a wheelchair record for the mile and had a blister or two to prove it.

Thomas Sussex, Aniel Smith and Paul Hamblin travelled to Dunedin, joined by Malcolm Hicks from Christchurch, to compete for Auckland in the National Champs. Thomas collected a bronze medal as he was the third runner home for Auckland in the teams competition.

Wesley had a great day at the road champs with Andrew and William battling out for the Auckland title and Aniel not far behind. It was great to see Wesley leading the charge with such dominating performances. Andrew is the first Wesley Auckland Road Champion is recent memory and maybe the first ever so that was fantasic.

Shoe Clinic Summer 5k Series Results
