Wesley came 3rd in both the Hansen and Turnco Shields this year - well done juniors.

4 October 2008 NZ Road Relay Champs
Venue: Mosgiel near Dunedin
Wesley, celebrating 75 years of running, capped off our anniversary year with 1st place in the OpenC Grade over a challenging 64.6km course with the five young runners performing outstandingly well- running against far more experienced athletes over distances twice as far as they would normally race.

History was repeating itself as Wesley back in 1981 also won the NZ Road Relay C Grade Championship with a team including a number of junior runners, including el Presidente and Barry Magee New Zealand's Marathon Bronze Medallist from the 1960 Rome Olympics. Barry was "over the moon" to hear of their win which brought back great memories of the 1981 victory. Well done boys!!

The Senior A all ran well and finished a creditable 10th place which was an excellent effort considering the illness and injuries the team faced over the last few weeks prior to the champs.
